I read Make Magazine often and when I saw these slide curtains on their blog, I just had to have my own. The original maker details her project here for anyone interested in constructing their own.
Super simple to make, all you need is a drill, 1/16" drill bit, 10mm jump rings, and slides of course. I posted an ad to Craig's List for slides wanted and by the day's end, had a response and a sale: 2,000 for $10. Sweet.
By day the slides are viewable from indoors, casting colorful shadows and offering a fantastic and sometimes bizarre glimpse into another person's life.
By night, the slides are visible from outside when the interior lights are illuminated.
Of course I can't stop there. I have 1,800 slides left over! This post serves as a big thank you to Yarnzombie for showing off her awesome idea and as a teaser for my new project that involves 35mm slides and the guts from this super awesome and very hackable Bulbdial Clock. I have now entered the fasicinating world of electronics and programming microchips.
